On the evening of Saturday, April 5 the Foundation for Change will host a gala celebration at the Scripps Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. The theme of the evening will be “Planting Seeds of Change, Growing Grassroots Movements.” All proceeds will support the Foundation for Change as we expand our work of supporting emerging leaders and organizations working for progressive social change in San Diego and Tijuana.

HONOREES
Roberto Martinez
Roberto L. Martinez was for 20 years the Director of the U.S./Mexico Border Program of the American Friends Services Committee. A pioneering figure in our region’s bi-national network of human rights observers, Martinez was one of 11 recipients worldwide to receive the prestigious Human Rights Watch Award in 1992. He retired in 2001.
San Diego LGBT Pride
San Diego LGBT Pride produces the annual Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender Pride Celebration which attracts 200,000 participants to Hillcrest for America’s Finest Pride Parade and Festival. Formed in 1974, San Diego LGBT Pride has given $1.2 million to a wide variety of organizations as it continues to foster pride and respect within LGBT communities locally and globally.
Donald Cohen
Donald Cohen is the co-founder and President of the Center on Policy Initiatives (CPI), a research and advocacy organization promoting higher living standards for poor and moderate-income families in San Diego. He has worked as a community organizer and consultant and as the Political Director of the San Diego- Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO. Cohen helped launch the San Diego chapter of the Liberty Hill Foundation, which started our grantmaking work in 1983.

Victoria Danzig
Victoria Danzig is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in La Jolla. After establishing the San Diego chapter of the Liberty Hill Foundation, she led the work of incorporating the organization as the San Diego Foundation for Change. From 1994 to 2000 Danzig served as the Foundation’s first Board President.
